The Three Color Palette: Sticking to What is Appealing

There is a whole lot of psychology in web design, and likely a lot more than one would ever expect. The greatest websites are designed with psychology in mind, just as the most popular restaurants and grocery stores are designed to bring in traffic and play on these psychological elements. Why is there a reflection mirror above and behind every buffet?

One of the most elemental aspects of mississauga web design and psychology is the use of color. The eyes refract and become attracted to color, and its overuse or underuse could be severely detrimental to a design’s overall effectiveness.

So What is Underuse?

Color underuse is very subjective. For example, the tech giant Apple defined their branding and culture around the very lack of color. But one can see in nearly all their efforts that white is the main color, and it is accented by a bright neon color. Their entire iPod line was personified by this use of a single bright color, and this stark contrast became an appealing strategy. If one looks close enough, they will know all Apple adverts have black in them. So what seems as one color, or two, is actually a brilliant and effective use of a three color palette.

The Last Color Importance

There is a new trend for the modern web designer toronto and it is exactly what is detailed above. But one can make adjustments to what is quickly becoming formulaic. For example, l one can swap that black out for a dark blue. That third color is also very important because it is almost single handedly defining the brand’s color (because white and black can’t really do that). This is why it is important to match this last color with the tone. An organic food company could use green or brown, but that is a little too cliché. Yet pink would be ill-fitting in a more professional organic company.

Underuse could be taken to the extreme, but as long as the advert is well designed and the web page is well implemented a black-white-other color combo can be wonderful. Lastly, that final color ends up defining the brand. Choose it wisely and sensibly in outlining the overall design palette.
